Driving Urban Change | Best office & business development finalists at MIPIM Awards 2022

The MIPIM Awards 2021 judges shortlisted 46 finalists representing the most outstanding projects of the real estate industry in the world, and celebrating ground-breaking innovation, architecture, environmental qualities, integration and impact on the community.

The winners will be announced at the MIPIM Awards Ceremony on Thursday 17 March, 2022. Grand Auditorium, Palais des Festival from 18.30 to 19.30.

BEST OFFICE & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

This category rewards office buildings and business parks that offer owners and users increased worker satisfaction and productivity, improved health, greater flexibility and enhanced energy and environmental performance of the workplace. Through an integrated design, the focus must be on the ability to accommodate the specific space and equipment needs of the tenant. Completed in 2020-2021.

 

BNP Paribas Fortis HQ at Montagne du Parc

The BNP Paribas Fortis Headquarters building is located exactly where it stood for the last 200 years. The new building follows again the original street alignment and makes reference both to the 12-m difference in height that separates Brussels’ “Ville Haute” from the “Ville Basse”, and the existing building heights in the area. The use of existing basement areas as a seasonal heat store keeps the mechanical plant to a minimum. A series of vast curvilinear landscaped courtyards and a large atrium provide the 4,500 building’s users and the general public with high-quality spaces in the heart of Brussels.

Gioia 22 is located within the Porta Nuova Business District, one of the most successful urban regeneration district developments in Europe and the first district in the world candidate to obtain LEED® and WELL® for Community certifications. Gioia 22 sets new unprecedented standards of technological innovation and environmental sustainability for office buildings, becoming a milestone with respect to the new requirements of the working world. With an architecture which expands vertically for 26 floors, it is the largest Italian NZEB building, LEED Platinum and WELL certified, and has already achieved the EU 2° C decarbonisation targets by 2050.

The tallest office tower in Midtown Manhattan, One Vanderbilt Avenue meets the market demands for new office space and connects directly to the city’s transportation network, blending private enterprise and the public realm. The building offers over 150,000 square meters of Class-A office space, featuring column-free expanses and stunning views through floor-to-ceiling windows, while transforming the civic experience of the Grand Central District with its architectural language in reference to nearby landmarks. Certified Platinum in both LEED and WELL programs, the building incorporates a number of sustainable construction and design strategies, as well as advanced technologies for tenant wellness.

Southworks, the seven storey 70,000 sqft office scheme, which completed in May 2021, has state-of-the-art facilities, bringing together technological and natural features to create the optimum space for its occupiers. It is a landmark smart building with safety measures inherent in the technology to a safe and pleasant working environment – making Southworks an ideal post-pandemic space as we look ahead to a gradual return to the office . The building’s design is inspired by a warehouse aesthetic, which is achieved through several high-quality design and specification details, including a stunning double height entrance formed from handcrafted Italian glass bricks.
