MIPIM Awards 2023. The shortlist is out! – BEST MIXED-USE PROJECT

From exemplary buildings in real estate’s chief asset classes, to mixed-use and urban regeneration schemes that rewrite the rule book, the winners of the MIPIM Awards 2023 will all have one thing in common: a holistic commitment to sustainability. The jury this year will focus on projects that seek to enhance the built environment’s prospects, in line with ESG goals.

From a consideration of construction and operational carbon, to climate and life cycle concerns, prizes will go chiefly to projects that best serve their end-users and wider communities while making a contribution to the economy.

As a Parisian landmark, due to its exceptional central location on the banks of the Seine, its silhouette dominating the Paris skyline and its local visibility, as well as its architecture, this building complex leaves a significant imprint on the city. Winner of Réinventer Paris 2016, the Morland Mixité Capitale project, over more than 43,000m2 and designed by internationally-renowned architect David Chipperfield, is based on strong convictions: Diversity of uses, Openness to the public, Architecture and artistic creation, Technological innovation and eco-responsibility. Recreating this city block on an urban scale ensures the project blends into its environment: The existing buildings have been renovated with respect for their original composition. The new buildings have been inserted into the block in an identifiable way, as a continuation of the existing building. The creation of a street crossing the block has allowed walkways within the interior spaces, breathing life into the whole district.

Norblin Factory is an award winning, landmark, mixed-use, urban regeneration project at the heart of Warsaw’s CBD. It has regained its presence on the map of Warsaw after several years of intensive design, construction and conservation work. The multifunctional project has a total area of over 65,000 sqm. GLA of which 41,000 sqm GLA are A-class offices. Visitors to Norblin Factory can also enjoy unique cultural, entertainment and dining concepts including the original KinoGram cinema, the Bio Bazar organic market, the capital city’s largest food court Food Town and a museum commemorating the history of the site. Norblin Factory is an example of a world-class revitalization project implemented with respect for the environment. It’s is a city-forming project, created in accordance with the idea of 15-minute cities. It has contributed to a positive change of this area in Wola district, which for years remained closed to the city and residents.
