The 12th annual SEE Real Estate Awards for 2016 was held in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd. The event brought together some of the region’s top real estate developers, investors and market professionals who were there to see who would collect the 27 prizes that were handed out over the course of the evening.
Company of the Year awards were presented to the leading developer, investor and professional service providers in South Eastern Europe for their activities and accomplishments during 2016. Companies were judged on their overall market contribution, quality of customer services, market innovation, commercial success, leadership and market penetration.
The quality and number of nominated projects for this year’s event suggested an underlying strength to the region’s property markets, resulting in many companies winning multiple awards. The biggest of which was consultancy firm CBRE, who shone the brightest on the evening picking up all the agency awards as well as Property Management Firm and Professional Woman of the Year for their very own Luiza Moraru.
Developer AFI Europe scooped up a couple of project prizes. One for their AFI Park buildings 4 and 5 as Office Development of the Year and another for AFI Cotroceni as Best Refurbishment/Extension Project. Atrium Mall, by Granit Polus, also picked up an award in this category as the Best Refurbishment/Extension Regional Project.
Forte Partners was also a big office sector winner during the evening. Not only did the company win the Office Developer of the Year, it also picked up the Concept & Design Project of the Year for their upcoming office project in Bucharest, The Bridge. Serbia’s BW Galerija by Eagle Hills also won a Concept & Design award in the retail category.
Project of the Year award winners were rated according to quality of design, building efficiency, quality of location, environmental concerns and commercial success The judges decided that this year’s best retail development was ParkLake by Sonae Sierra. On the residential side, the Residential Development of the Year prize went to Coresi Avantgarden, a project by Immochan and Avantgarden Immo Invest, who also collected the Residential Developer of the Year award.
Other project winners included Fashion Park Outlet Center Serbia by Blackoak Developments as Best Performing Factory Outlet and CTP’s CTPark Bucharest West for Industrial Project of the Year.
This year’s Overall Professional of the Year went to Razvan Nica, Managing director at Build Green Romania. Build Green was also awarded Professional Service Provider of the Year. Meanwhile, NEPI picked up the award for Investor of the Year for its prolific investment and development activity throughout the region.
Accentuating the interest in the SEE region’s retail sector, a couple of key retailers were awarded on the night. Overall Retailer of the Year went to H&M and Serbian Retailer of the Year was received by Cineplexx International. Retailer of the Year awards were given to retailers active throughout the region based on their market innovation, expansion, contribution to the market, market share, concept and design, and commercial success.
Other major winners for the company awards included CTP as the Industrial Developer of the Year, Epstein Architecture & Engineering for Architectural Firm of the Year and UniCredit Bank/UniCredit Group for Bank of the Year. The Project Management Firm of the Year for Serbia went to Merin Asset Management and the Project Management Firm for the SEE region went to Optim Project Management. Finally, the award for Law Firm of the Year went to Pelifilip.
