London Stand at MIPIM announces programme of speakers

The London Stand at MIPIM has announced a full programme of speeches, debates and talks in the run up to the world’s largest international real estate event.

The revamped London Stand, supported by the Mayor of London, is always one of the key features of MIPIM and this year it will discuss the key issues facing the capital as it continues its recovery from the pandemic.

The programme, whose theme is ‘Leading with Innovation and Action’, will cover a range of issues from the decarbonisation agenda to attracting new inward investment to the capital as well as the future of housing, offices, logistics and the city’s transportation needs. The full programme can be viewed here.

This year, the stand is being organised by MIPIM from its usual spot at C14 on La Croisette. Here, London will promote its service expertise and its property and placemaking developments to the international investment community.

Launching the London Stand will be Lord Gerry Grimstone, Minister of State for Investment, Department for International Trade, in a keynote address. He will provide an overview of the areas and sectors driving investment into the UK and London, including insight into the impact of the pandemic, Brexit and climate change.

Other key political speakers across the three-day programme include:

  • Jules Pipe (Deputy Mayor of London for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, Greater London Authority)
  • Catherine McGuiness (Chair of the Policy and Resources Committee, City of London)
  • Councillor Darren Rodwell (Leader, Barking and Dagenham Council)
  • Philip Graham (Executive Director, Good Growth, Greater London Authority)

Supporting organisations of the London Stand’s partners include:

• ARUP (Programme partner)
• Précis Capital Partners (Programme partner)
• Greater London Authority
• London Councils
• EPR Architects
• LandTech
• City of London Corporation
• RIBA

• Pacaso (Programme partner)

MIPIM is set to have a strong UK presence at the 2022 event in March, with major cities and political leaders from across the country due to attend.

Alongside the London Stand, the UK’s presence will be headlined by the UK Pavilion on La Croisette, where the Department for International Trade (DIT), with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and Homes England, will promote the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and showcase the country’s international offer for investing in local areas to drive growth, create jobs, and deliver new homes and places.

The UK Pavilion will be working with stakeholders from across the UK including the English regions and Devolved Administrations. Alongside the UK Pavilion, there will be a number of UK cities and regions that will be exhibiting including London, Liverpool, Newcastle, Cardiff, West of England, Dudley, Lancashire and Central South as well as the Key Cities and Core Cities network.

In November it was announced that all the major international brokers have signed up for MIPIM 2022, which is expecting to have the same number of exhibitors as the 2019 edition, including a plethora of new international cities and countries looking to showcase their investment opportunities.

MIPIM is currently on track to see over 17,000 delegates attend the world’s largest international real estate event.

Rohan Marwaha, UK managing director, Real Estate Division at RX, said:

“As we get closer to MIPIM 2022, we’re seeing heightened interest from the industry, which is being reflected in a strong drive for registrations. This is a crucial year for leading global cities to speak to the world’s investor and real estate community, and this exciting programme promises to showcase that London is tackling challenges such as pandemic recovery and climate change.”

MIPIM 2022 takes place on 15-18 March in Cannes, France.
